On 10 July 2024, an ambitious project to build a National Eye Institute in Uzbekistan, funded by the MESCA Foundation, was launched. Recently, Professor Farhad Hafezi and Nikki Hafezi visited the construction site to personally supervise the work and assess progress.
The MESCA Foundation’s pilot project, centered on ophthalmology, facilitated support for Prof. Farhad Hafezi of the ELZA Institute to foster relationships and deliver educational presentations to local ophthalmologists in Uzbekistan. Prof. Hafezi was an invited speaker at the annual Uzbek National Ophthalmological Society (IOC) for two consecutive years (2021 & 2022) in Tashkent.
